Business situation
Vision and mission statements were on display in the company’s reception area and in the quality manual, but the leadership team lacked clarity and understanding of what the company strategy really meant. There was little or no evidence that the strategy had been deployed into the business and it wasn’t driving actions, decisions or business performance either short or long-term. As a tier-one contract manufacturer to the consumer electronics market in Asia Pacific, margins were incredibly tight, there was a heavy reliance on three major customers, and there was little autonomy to grow the business.

New opportunities and possibilities were explored and a new strategy was developed to continue to serve Consumer Electronics OEMs but in parallel develop a new business unit designing, developing, manufacturing and selling fruit processing equipment. The new business has successfully been established with an R&D team and first products launched to the market.
